Group Interpretation

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Hello! My name is Luke Langlois and I will be directing the 2024 Group Interpretation production of To Catch a Thief: A “Choose Your Own Adventure” Story. I have directed the past three years of Group Interpretation productions, Percy Jackson & The Olympians : The Lightning Thief in 2023, The Little Mermaid in 2022, and the Zoom production of Come From Away in 2021.

What is Dungeons & Dragons: To Catch a Thief?

Let’s start with this: Dungeons & Dragons is a cooperative adventure tabletop game where a group is able to role-play different characters in a fantasy setting to ultimately tell a group story. This is a “Choose Your Own Adventure” style book. The reader is able to make choices that lead to many different set outcomes. Mix the two together and we are sure to have a great adventure on our hands.

What is Group Interpretation?

Group Interpretation (GI) is a 30 minute competitive group play. We don’t use props, or costumes in a traditional sense. We also have a limited performance space and a standardized set that consists of 16 wooden pieces that we are free to use in creative ways. Group Interp is all about how you can tell a story as a full group while the performance or character were meant to be as one. Think black-box theater meets radio play.

What are the dates for auditions and callbacks? Where are they taking place?

Auditions are Monday, December 11 & Wednesday, December 13 starting at 4:10PM. There are no callbacks for this production. Participants should sign up for timeslots to audition by following this link. If you cannot attend please contact me ([email protected]) via email as soon as possible. All auditions will be held in room 311. The waiting room will be just inside the LRC.

I am involved in other Winter or Spring Sports and Activities, can I still audition?

Yes, however, please check with your other sponsors or coaches prior to auditions to confirm practice schedules can be adjusted for participating in GI. If you are auditioning I will expect you to have already cleared this with your coach and our rehearsal schedule will not have conflicts.

I also want to audition for the Musical, what should I do?

You may only audition for both with the understanding you will not be offered a lead role in either performance. Please reach out to myself (Luke Langlois) and the Musical Director (Tina Jacklin) if you have any questions or concerns

When are the performance dates?

Conference Festival : Saturday, March 9

Sectionals Tournament : Saturday, March 16

State Finals : Friday, March 22 & Saturday, March 23

218 Arts Extravaganza : TBA
