Business Education
 
Computer Concepts:
An introduction to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.  This class gives students a basic understanding of each of these programs, but places a focus on Microsoft PowerPoint. 
This class provides students with the opportunity to receive PowerPoint Certification and Dual Credit through Moraine Valley Community College.
 
Computer Applications:  Information Processing:
This class builds upon what was learned in Concepts, and focuses on the advanced features of Microsoft Word. 
This class provides students with the opportunity to receive Word and/or Word Expert Certification(s) and Dual Credit through Moraine Valley Community College.
 
Computer Applications:  Data Processing:
This class builds upon what was learned in Concepts, and focuses on the advanced features of Microsoft Excel and Access. 
This class provides students with the opportunity to receive Excel, Access, and/or Excel Expert Certification(s) and Dual Credit through Moraine Valley Community College.
 
Accounting/Bookkeeping:
This class is designed to gives students a real life look at the accounting world.  Students will learn how to enter transactions in to journals, posts entries in to the ledgers, and create financial statements and reports detailing how a business is doing.  In this class we look at smaller sole proprietor business as well as corporations.
This class provides students with the opportunity to receive Dual Credit through Moraine Valley Community College.
 
KEYBOARDING
The goals of keyboarding is to provide students the opportunity to learn how to touch type, and to practice this skill.  We will spend the semester developing typing speed and accuracy.  
Once students have a grasp on the skill, we will begin working on creating professional documents such as Memos, Letters, Reports, and Tables.  
 
Work Based Learning
In Work Based Learning students begin working towards what comes after high school.  This will include, creating resumes and cover letters, applying for jobs, hearing from industry professionals, receiving on the job training and experience, and beginning to learn about their paychecks and financial literacy.  
Every student is REQUIRED to complete 60 hours of on the job training (which can be paid or unpaid) related the the field of study they are interested in and signed up for.
